Our Methodology
Teaching
Concept Building
This part of teaching will operate on three levels:
- Basic Level
- Application Level
- Practice Level
Basic session where the fundamentals of a chapter will be taught and simple problems will be discussed to understand the concepts. The basic problems have been designed with care to cover all important precepts. This set of problems also endeavor to look at concepts in different perspectives that will open channels for attacking problems from diverse methods.
The application session comprises a range of problems which are of CAT difficulty level. These problems are applications of the fundamentals taught in the earlier session. Here too, the problems have been picked up for a purpose.
At the end of each application session, a set of 30 questions will be distributed in the class; Students are expected to attempt these questions at home before attending the next session as the next session will commence with discussion and feedback of the sheet. Practice sheets are designed predominantly to assist students in the process of problem solving. Each practice sheet will be largely based on application sessions.
Scheduling / Mentoring
One of the most under-rated activities during the preparation of CAT is the importance of scheduling. There are a lot of things to be studied and learnt across areas, unless there is a pre-defined study plan to guide and motivate, the learning does not occur. Hence, right from the beginning till the end of November, students have to study, based on a pre-determined study plan i.e. scheduling. Once a month there will be special one-to-one sessions with students to determine how effective their scheduling is.
